Dawes Memoir
CHRISTIAN publisher Zondervan will release “Heartofa Champion: The Dominique Dawes Story” on May 21. Written by Kim Washburn, the book chroni- cles Dawes’ amazing career, which included three Olympic Games, from 1992- 2000. Weaved within the text is Dawes’ faith in God, which elped her to navigate the motional highs and lows of international competition, and eventually led to excit- ing opportunities to inspire others. 120-page tribute to
rhythmic gymnastics.
The hardback book
measures 12 in. square
and features 240 images
from Langsley’s 35 years
of shooting rhythmic. It
also includes text by
Vera Marinova Atkinson
and Atsuko Watabe.
Previously, Langsley’s
beautiful gymnastics
photos were published
by the FIG in two volumes: “The Art of Sport”
(1996) and “In
Perspective” (2000).

IN August 2010 the U.S. women were awarded the bronze medal from the
2000 Sydney Olympics, and in March
2012 Ukraine received the same
upgrade from the 1999 Tianjin
Worlds. Both teams had placed
fourth behind China, which had
inflated the age of Dong Fangxiao.
Since Dong was on both teams, one
question remains: Why did it take so
long for Ukraine to get its medal?
