In competition, you appear calm and collect-
ed. How would you describe your mood dur-
ing a meet, and what are you really like out-
side the gym?
When I’m in competition I can feel the nerves
inside, even if my expression doesn’t show it. But
I try to rely on my muscle memory and let my
body do what it knows how to do and not think
too much. I tell myself I’ve done everything I can
to prepare and that the meet should be like another day in the gym practicing routines. Outside of
the gym I can be a lot fun, outgoing, and I always
like to sing and dance whenever I hear music.
What specific goals have you set for yourself
for 2012?
JEFF SIPSEY (2)
For 2012 my goals are to try and stay consistent
and clean with my routines throughout the year
and hopefully compete well enough at the Visa
championships and Olympic trials to be chosen
for the Olympic Games and achieve my dream of
winning at least one gold medal at the Olympics.
