What’s Next?
WE got a rare smile out of Romanian Lavinia Milosovici
for our January 1997 cover, which
included a farewell feature on her
career. In that story, Milosovici suc-
cinctly explained her often serious
demeanor: “I’m not
used to being happy
in the gym, but that
doesn’t mean I don’t
like the sport. I love
the sport.”
She said as
much again last
May, when she was
inducted into the International
Gymnastics Hall of Fame: “I realize
that everything I have done and I am
today was because of the sport that
I practiced.”
THOMAS SCHRE YER
The issue also included a revealing interview with the mother of a
Level 10, who said, “The perception
of what goes on [in the gym] is
grossly controlled by what an individual child says to her parents. And
I really feel very strongly that a
coach’s lot is a very difficult one.”

it is now, it’s like chalk and cheese.
THE
BOTTOM
LINE
For safety reasons, the FIG needs to consider limiting the number
and type of roll-out skills on floor exercise.
