Lilleshall became the home of all national squad train- ing for all disciplines of gymnastics, and by 1988 most of the men’s national team were living and train- ing full time there.

contributed greatly to their international success, and by 1991 at the world championships
in Indianapolis, they qualified a full men’s
team for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Initially only Atkinson and his secretary
Linda Leathebarrow were based at Lilleshall,
but then, due to the success of the concentration of resources program and BAGA’s
Forward Plan of the ’80s written by Edmonds,
Newson and Atkinson, a Technical Department was formed at Lilleshall consisting of
National Coaches and Technical Administrators. The key players were Lloyd
Readhead, Eddie Van Hoof (MAG), Colin Still,
Wolfgang Bohner (WAG), Helen Roberts (RG),
Matei Todorov (Acro) and John White
(General Gymnastics).
The administrators led by Diane Windsor
were Jenny Warren, Kim Hetherington,
Barbara Stephan assisted by Lal Weight and
Lynette Hotchkiss.
