‘Spelbound’ Has Talent!
Agroup of 13 sports acrobatic gymnasts earned fame and little for- tune by winning “Britain’s Got Talent” on June 5. “Spelbound,”
formed at Spelthorne Elite Acrobatics club (and now based at
Heathrow Gymnastics Club) and coached by Neil Griffiths with choreography from Nicola Yellop, won £100,000 over nine other acts in the
final round. Spellbound members: Men’s Four (Adam McAssey, Adam
Buckingham, Alex Uttley, Jonathan Stranks); Mixed Pair (Katie Axten,
Nick Illingworth); Women’s Trio (Leighanne Crowler, Lauren Kemp,
Holliane Wood); Women’s Pair (Abigail Ralph, Amy Mackenzie); Men’s
Pair (Ed Upcott, Doug Fordyce).
“My main interest for entering was to help to increase the profile of
the sport,” said Griffiths (kneeling above). “Everything else we get
from here on in is bonus for us.”
