for the 2012 London Olympics.
• On Feb. 3, 2001, the Albanian Gymnastics
Federation handed down a lifetime ban of its
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Judge, Mrs. Fat-bardha Shtrepi, as a result of her involvement
in the organization of the anti-statutory Assembly of February 7, 2009.
• Cyril Tommasone (FRA) is working to match
the international success of compatriot Yann
Cucherat, whom he lists as one of his two
favorite gymnasts. (His other favorite is another
Frenchman, Johann Mounard.) Tommasone
placed fourth on pommel horse at the 2009
World Championships, and first on parallel bars
at the 2009 World University Games.
Born July 4, 1987, in Villeurbanne, Tommasone began training at age seven. He originally
trained under coach Bertrand Rabillou, but is
now coached by Anatoli Vorontzov. Tommasone, who trains 26 hours per week, aspires to
be a coach. Outside the gym, he enjoys music,
Playstation and going out with friends.
• Epke Zonderland (NED), the 2009 world silver medalist on high bar and 2009 Sportsman of
the Year in the Netherlands, appeared on the
March 3 episode of the Dutch television show
“Holland Sport Junior.” Zonderland discussed
his achievements and offered training tips to 13-
year-old gymnast Justin Zuidema. IG
