Emily Vidmar
Gym Max, Costa Mesa, California
Emily, 14, is a freshman at Tesoro High
School and also the daughter of 1984
Olympic gold medalist Peter Vidmar. Her
AA results have been impressive the last
four years: State champion in Level 5 (’05)
and Level 6 (’06); Level 7 runner-up (’07);
Level 8 Regional champ (’08). Coached by
Howie and Jenny Liang, Emily spends her
free time surfing.
Madison Kocian
WOGA Gymnastics, Plano, Texas
Madison, 11, won the AA at every meet at
Level 8 Jr. A, including the Texas State
championships and Regionals. This year
this talented 6th-grader will move up to
Level 9. Madison is coached by Laurent
Landi and Natasha Boyarskaya, and likes
uneven bars the best. Outside the gym she
enjoys swimming, listening to music and
spending time with family and friends.
Adriene & Kortnee Miller
Texas Dreams Gymnastics, Coppell, Texas
Sisters Adriene (left) and Kortnee
(right) moved from Ohio to Texas to
pursue their dreams. Adriene is in 4th
grade and coached by Kim Zmeskal-Burdette and Chris Burdette. Kortnee
is in 3rd grade and trained by Travis
Cherrier and Gina Logan. Both love
the balance beam and are National
TOPs team members.
Kyla Mullen
Salto Gymnastics, Lisburn, Northern Ireland
Although Kyla is only 7, she’s already been
hard at work in the gym for 4 years. She
hopes to compete soon and favors tumbling and bars. Watching the 2008
Olympics on TV helped Kyla in a way she
didn’t expect. “I saw some of the girls fall
off bars, and I don’t want to do that,” she
giggles. Kyla says the key to success is
always trying your best.
